Minor Planets, 20 x 20 in. archival pigment prints, 2009-10 My series of photographs, Minor Planets , documents a collection of rocks my wife and I gathered around the country for ten years. The rocks are positioned against a black backdrop and lit with a single light source, creating the appearance of planetary bodies floating in space. I’m interested in the work existing in uncertain categories, and in the plausibility the images may inspire. The Minor Planets series addresses various interpretations of our understanding of space, from the infinite to the finite, from the grandiose to our own backyard.
